Sports Girl “Woven Together”

Being invited by Shaneiva and Producer Sianna Catullo to lead the visual direction for Sportsgirl’s "Woven Together" campaign was an absolute milestone for me, both as a photographer and as a storyteller. To be trusted by these two powerhouse First Nations creatives meant stepping into a space where fashion truly met deep, meaningful cultural expression. Capturing Shaneiva’s essence as a Gamilaraay artist whose beautiful work focuses on truth-telling and healing required an atmosphere of total authenticity and mutual respect. Sianna’s visionary, thoughtful leadership as a Narungga producer fostered exactly that, ensuring that every single frame I shot was grounded in the campaign's core values of listening, learning, and lifting up the sisterhood.

While those individual creative connections were incredibly special, the true heart of this project was the magic of working alongside the entire, majority First Nations production crew. Collaborating with such a talented team of stylists, hair and makeup artists, and assistants completely transformed the energy on set, turning a fashion shoot into a beautiful, collective act of community and pride. Beginning our day together with a Welcome to Country from the Elders anchored my camera lens in a profound respect for Country and family. Having that deep cultural perspective woven into every single layer of the production allowed us to create imagery that felt undeniably honest, warm, and reflective of a stronger, shared future.
